Intrinsic Asthma - Medicinal Plants


The word asthma is from a Greek origin and its definition is episodes of breathing difficulties due to narrowing of the airways of the lungs. Asthma occurs in people of all ages and all races. This entails that asthma is a risk for different people. Asthma is a chronic disease condition which does not end up in one or two days. Continuous care is to be taken by the asthma patients and proper treatment is needed for the prevention of this disease.

Asthma can be divided mainly into two parts; intrinsic and extrinsic. As the name implies, intrinsic asthma is caused by internal factors while extrinsic asthma is caused by external factors. Internal factors include triggers including exercise, stress, respiratory infection, air pollution, chemical exposures, and many more. The origin of the intrinsic asthma is still not clear as to why they are caused. Extrinsic asthma is triggered by external factors like pollens, trees, mold, animal dander, and dust mites.

For the prevention of intrinsic asthma no proper method is made available but still many people prefer to use medicinal plants for the cure. There are no side effects from the medicinal plants and can be used sparingly. One such medicinal plant is garlic. Person having asthma flare up should mix it with boiled milk and then drink it. This will instantly give relief to the asthma attack. Turmeric is also considered most precious plant for treating. It is also to be taken with a glass of milk twice daily. Mustard oil is used as massage oil. It is to be applied to the chest of the patient with the addition of camphor. It alleviates the breathing pattern and loosed up the phlegm in the chest. Ginger is also the best herbal medicines used to prevent asthma attacks. It not only helps the condition, but also keeps it under control.

Different herbs mentioned in Ayurveda are Emblica, Shilajit, Sanctm, myrobalan, Chebulic, Inula helenium, Glychyrrhiza glabra, verbascum, and many more. These herbs are mixed with different herbal medications in different proportions and are useful in controlling the asthma symptoms. They expand the respiratory tract making easy air flow in the air tubes.

Consultation of a physician is must before switching to any of these medicinal plants. Thus, asthma can be cured not only by the manmade drugs but also can be cured by herbs and plants. As it is always said plants are good friends of human beings this thing proves the fact.
