What to Do When Asthma Attacks

Imagine yourself being in a show, while in the middle of watching it, you begin grasping for your breath. Or you are in a middle of a basketball court playing with a team, then suddenly you feel like you cannot breathe. You are being attacked by a disease called asthma. Asthma attack treatment is the most sought advice from doctors by both young and old-alike.

What will you do when asthma attacks you anytime and anywhere? Patients and onlookers should know what to do when this happens. A common reaction to this situation is sheer panic. Knowing the basics of its treatment, makes you become equipped when emergency happens. You can be a great help.

When you are an onlooker, you should be aware that it would be easier for someone who has an asthma attack to breathe if he or she is sitting up as compared to lying down. Let the patient sit in his or her comfortable position. Never let your patient lie down.

A usual thing that a patient carries within themselves is an inhaler. This is a device that helps the patient's breathing at ease through relaxing the air passages. Thus, bringing back to normal his or her breathing. More likely, it is their partner anywhere they go because it can happen anytime and anywhere. Ask if he or she has one and where to find it. Make sure that you are helping him or her to use the inhaler.

Doctors would advise that if a patient does not have an inhaler, use someone's device. This is how important it is. However, if you see that the inhaler does not take effect on him or her, call an ambulance. Go to the nearest hospital.

If you are a person who takes care of patients under asthma attack treatment, make sure to stay calm. If you panic, tendency is the patient will also panic. Worse thing to happen is that the situation can become at its worst.
